AGATHA ALL ALONG on Disney+ is a Marvel spin-off series. We met Agatha (Kathryn Hahn) in WANDAVISION and now we get her story. I knew I would love this series – and I was right. Read our full Agatha All Along series review here!

AGATHA ALL ALONG is a new Marvel series on Disney+ and it’s premiering with its two first episodes. This is a spin-off series featuring Agatha Harkness from the WandaVision series that focused on Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen).

I have no problem admitting that I adore Kathryn Hahn and will watch anything she’s in. That’s why I expected to love this new spin-off series. Fortunately, my assumption turned out to be justified because I love Agatha All Along and cannot wait to watch all nine episodes.

Agatha All Along – Review | Disney+ Spin-off Series

From Agnes to Agatha

In WandaVision, Kathryn Hahn played the character of Agnes until it was revealed that she was in fact Agatha Harkness, a very powerful witch. Of course, fans of Marvel and The Avengers in particular will know that Wanda Maximoff is also known as the Scarlett Witch.

Wanda Maximoff is one of the most powerful superhero characters ever! Alongside other iconic characters such as Carol Danvers AKA Captain Marvel and Jean Grey AKA Phoenix (or Dark Phoenix or even Marvel Girl).

You’ll notice the fact that all these characters are female. And you’ll be treated with a lot of powerful female characters in this new spin-off series as well.

Agatha takes center stage

In Agatha All Along, the focus is on powerful witches, so we’re getting a lot of powerful female characters. When the series opens, Agatha is still trapped in the world Wanda built for the story in WandaVision. She believes her name is Agnes, and she needs help breaking the spell, which she gets during episode 1.

Aubrey Plaza plays the character who helps her move closer to this realization. As does Joe Locke of the wonderful queer coming-of-age Netflix series Heartstopper.

Once she realizes that she is, in fact, the very powerful Agatha Harkness, she also comes to the realization that her powers are gone. In her relentless pursuit to regain her powers, Agatha Harkness recruits some unlikely allies.

Agatha All Along is filled to the brim with amazing talent and the most fierce ladies. Her little makeshift coven consists of Sasheer Zamata (Spree, Saturday Night Live 2014-2017), Ali Ahn (Orange Is the New Black, Raising Dion), Debra Jo Rupp (That ’70s Show, WandaVision), and the iconic Patty LuPone (The School for Good and Evil).

Also in this new spin-off series is Aubrey Plaza as Rio Vidal. A “frenemy” of Agatha. Aubrey Plaza is playing a character tailor-made for a queer audience. Queer women will want her, queer men will want to be her. And Aubrey Plaza knows this.

Imagine her character from Happiest Season and then dial it up and make it comic book fierce. Oh yeah!

Womentainment Recommendation

Get ready for a wonderful treat!

I do like sci-fi, fantasy, horror, comic books, and superhero movies in general. However, to really make my Marvel heart sing, I want the female characters front and center.

For this, we’re not getting just one of two, but a whole crew (or coven, as it were) of fierce female characters.

Also, Kathryn Hahn alone would be more than enough to get me watching. Throw in Aubrey Plaza and Patti LuPone and now you’re just spoiling me. And I am here for that. Thank you!
